“Buy cheap, buy twice”
A good lesson today in when buying the cheaper item is not always a saving. Today was a “Cisco” switch that was actually a re-branded Linksys, so a consumer Cisco, or Cisco “lite” perhaps.
Needed the L3 capabilities of the switch as we needed to have three VLAN’s running with limited routing (by protocol) between the VLAN’s and it was painful. A number of hours later and it’s still not sorted. Highlights include the edit ACL interface complaining the rule you are editing already exists on save and then deleting it, handy.
So saving “some” money on getting the cheaper switch has cost a lot of time and effort to almost get things working with a very tight deadline, 12 hour day, mostly spent with the switch :-(
